Iran’s FM Stresses OIC Role in Settlement of Muslim World Issues

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in helping to resolve the issues and crises of the Islamic world.

In a meeting with Hissein Brahim Taha, the OIC’s new secretary general, in Islamabad, Pakistan, the Iranian top diplomat congratulated Taha on assuming the post.

He also said the OIC and its secretary general play a major role in settling the Muslim world’s problems and crises such as those in Afghanistan and Palestine.

Amir Abdollahian is in Islamabad to take part in an emergency meeting of the OIC on the situation in Afghanistan.

Upon his arrival at the airport in the Pakistani capital, he said Iran calls for formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan with the participation of all Afghan ethnic groups.

He said it would be helpful in establishing political stability and security in the country.
